Athletic Department Honors Montevallo’s 15th President

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo Athletic Department welcomed Dr. John W. Stewart III and his family to the soccer doubleheader against the University of West Florida Tuesday evening. Dr. Stewart will be inaugurated as the University’s 15th President this Thursday as part of the annual Founder’s Day celebration.

The department hosted three teams from the U-6 City of Alabaster Soccer League to participate in an exhibition match and Dr. Stewart’s youngest son was able to join in on the fun. Just prior to the rain and lightning delay during the men’s game the entire Athletic Department and all the student-athletes presented the Stewart family with a set of UM Athletic jerseys.
