McLeod Named GSC East Division Pitcher of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior pitcher Caleb McLeod (Pleasant Grove, Ala./Shelton State C.C.) of the University of Montevallo baseball team (13-5-1) was named Gulf South Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week. McLeod is the first Montevallo pitcher since Zac Blakney (2007-08) to be given the award. The last time the Falcons were awarded a Pitcher of the Week was March 27, 2007.

McLeod was nearly flawless on the bump for the Falcons in their first game against WVIAC opponent Bluefield State (W. Va.) this past Saturday. The Pleasant Grove, Ala. native hurled the team's first complete game of the season, allowing just two hits and a run with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work. The junior did not walk a batter as UM won the game, 8-1.

McLeod and the rest of the Falcons will return to action today, March 3 at 3:00 p.m. as they host Urbana University.
