Falcons Earn First Region Ranking in New Conference

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The 24th-ranked University of Montevallo men's basketball team (15-2, 5-2 PBC) picked up its first Southeast Regional ranking in school history. The Falcons are ranked eighth in the most recent NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings.
The Falcons are one of five Peach Belt Conference teams in the rankings. Augusta State is ranked No. 1, Francis Marion is No. 2, GCSU is No. 3 while North Georgia is ranked No. 7.
UM will have a chance to take on all four of those PBC teams ranked ahead of them later on this season. The first test will come this Sunday as No. 2 Francis Marion comes to town to take on the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. inside BankTrust Arena.
The top eight teams from each region advance to the NCAA Tournament.
The Falcons will next be in action Friday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. as they host UNC Pembroke.
