UM Mens Basketball to be Featured on National Television
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo men's basketball program will be nationally televised as part of the NCAA's college basketball package with CBS College Sports Network (formerly CSTV).
UM's Peach Belt Conference contest at Augusta State University this Saturday will be broadcast live at 11:00 a.m. central. The contest is part of an eight-game regular-season men's and women's basketball package with CBS College Sports Network. The schedule features two Saturdays of women's action, followed by four men's games in consecutive weeks and then two more women's games to wrap up the broadcast season.
"This is a great honor to be selected to play in front of a national television audience as we enter the highly-competitive Peach Belt Conference and Southeast Region," said head coach Danny Young. "It is a tremendous opportunity to showcase what the University of Montevallo and our men's basketball program have to offer."
This is the fourth year of the television agreement between Division II and CBS College Sports Network. The contest can be viewed live locally in the Montevallo area on Charter cable system's Channel 303, while the game will be carried on College cable system's Channel 49. On Direct TV, CBS College Sports Network can be seen on Channel 613, while Dish Network carries CBS College Sports Network on Channel 152.
"Our partnership with CBS College Sports is another example of why our schools consider Division II as a membership destination," said Division II Vice President Mike Racy. "We are able to provide national exposure for the student-athletes and their institutions while also providing viewers a unique glimpse into the division and the way we balance academics and athletics excellence."
The basketball package supplements a six-game football broadcast series which begins August 27. The eight basketball games also continue a hallmark of the television initiative, which is to spread the exposure. The eight games represent eight different conference match-ups. The broadcasts will also be syndicated through regional sports networks and made available via broadband at www.NCAA.com.
