AIKEN, S.C. Senior Alicia Lewis (Youngsville, La./Comeaux) of the University of Montevallo womens basketball team (14-13) was named Third Team All-Peach Belt Conference for the 2009-10 season. This is Lewis second All-Conference award after she was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference last season. This is the first PBC All-Conference award for the womens basketball program.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (14-13, 7-10 PBC) fell in an overtime battle with Columbus State University (17-10, 11-6 PBC), 63-53. The Falcons used a late second half run to take a lead with 14 seconds left in regulation but a clutch three pointer by the Lady Cougars sent the game into overtime. The loss ended UMs hope of making it to back-to-back conference tournaments under second year head coach Brittney Ezell. UM finished with a winning record for the first time since the 2004-05 season and it is only the second time UM has had a winning record since joining the NCAA in 1996.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (14-12, 7-9 PBC) dropped a hard fought contest with Georgia College and State University (19-7, 12-4 PBC) on the road, 64-54. UM was able to cut the Bobcat lead to just one point with 10:53 left in the game but a 13-0 run by GCSU dashed the Falcons hope for the upset. The Falcons were led by junior Carrie Parrott (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Siegel) who had 13 points and six rebounds. Senior Alex Sanabria (Miami, Fla./Miami) had 10 points, a team-high seven rebounds and three assists.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (14-11, 7-8 PBC) picked up one of its biggest wins of the season against 15th-ranked Clayton State University (19-6, 10-5 PBC). The Falcons used a late second-half run to take the lead and held off the Lakers in the final minutes to claim a huge 65-60 upset win. The victory also keeps the Falcons playoff hopes alive as they continue to be tied for the fourth and final spot in the Peach Belt Conference Western Division. UM also helped raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer with its Pink Zone event.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Come out and support the University of Montevallo womens basketball team and also the Womens Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Saturday, February 20 at 1:30 p.m. as the Falcons host a Pink Zone game against Clayton State University. Pink Zone, formerly known as Think Pink, is a nationwide initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in womens basketball in the community and on campus.
