Four Falcons Honored by the PBC
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s soccer team was awarded two spots on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team while two players were given an Honorable Mention. Sophomores Taylor Kerr (Birmingham, Ala./Vestavia Hills) and Kaitlin Thomas (Calgary, Alberta/Foothills Composite) were named to the PBC All-Academic Team while sophomore Asgerdur Palsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Verzlunarskoli Islands) and senior Michaela Moertzsch (Peine, Germany/Gymnasium am Silberkamp) were given honorable mention.
Kerr has a 3.75 GPA in history. Thomas has a 4.00 GPA in chemistry, Palsdottir has a 3.69 GPA in kinesiology and Moertzsch has a 3.30 GPA in management.
The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
