MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's soccer team (5-10-1, 2-5-1 PBC) played for 110 minutes against UNC Pembroke (8-4-3, 3-4-2 PBC) and could not come up with a winner. The Falcons and Lady Braves ended the match tied at one. UM's lone goal came in the 79th minute as sophomore Taylor Kerr (Birmingham, Ala./Vestavia Hills) found sophomore Christine Prince (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering) in the box. Prince delivered with a shot to the top corner to give UM a 1-0 lead with less then 12 minutes to play in regulation.
The Lady Braves responded in the 84th minute as Amalia Arvidsson used a kick from 35 yards out that just floated over the finger tips of the UM's keeper to tie the game at one.
Niether team was able to find the net in either of the overtime periods. UNCP out-shot the Falcons 6-2 in the overtime period and 18-13 throughout the match.
Junior Alyssa Maxwell (Surrey, British Columbia/Semiahmoo) made eight saves in the contest while allowing just one goal. Britney Bennett did not make a save for UNCP and allowed just one goal.
The Falcons honored their three seniors following the match including Denise Mannion (Manchester, England/Stockport), Michaela Moertzsch (Peine, Germany/Gymnasium am Silberkamp) and Kristin Rosato (Pinson, Ala./Clay-Chalkville).
The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 5:00 p.m. as they travel to Columbus State University for a Peach Belt Conference match-up.
