Patriots Drop Falcons, 3-0

FLORENCE, S.C. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team (13-16, 4-9 PBC) fell to Francis Marion University (11-17, 3-10 PBC) 3-0 on the road. UM struggled offensively as the Falcons hit just .070 as a team for the match. The Patriots swept UM 25-21, 25-20 and 25-22. Sophomore Michelle Carle (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) led the Falcons with 13 kills, six digs, a block and a .433 attack percentage.

Senior setter Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) had another double-double with 28 assists and 15 digs. Sophomore Manyi Ati (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) had 10 kills, four digs and a block.

Senior Rachel Wotitzky (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) led the Falcons in digs with 17 while senior Jessica Guidry (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Pensacola State College) chipped in 10.

In an error filled match FMU's setter only mustered 21 assists over the three games while their top hitter had just 10 kills. UM gave up eight service aces and had six service errors. FMU hit just .113 as a team in the match.

The Falcons will return to action tomorrow at 11 a.m. as they travel to PBC foe UNC Pembroke.
