BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Montevallo freshman Petter Dahlin was recently named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week.

Playing No. 1 singles for the Falcons, Dahlin did not drop a set last week while leading the Falcons to a 2-1 mark.

The highlight of the week for Dahlin was a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Patrick Oliveira of Augusta, who entered the match ranked No. 10 nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II singles' rankings.

Dahlin defeated William Greaves of North Greenville 6-0, 6-1 and Brandon Sewell of Tuskegee 6-1, 6-0 in other action.

In addition, Dahlin and freshman teammate James Bloomer went undefeated in doubles' action.

Dahlin and Bloomer defeated Sewell and Jabari Cole of Tuskegee 8-1 in the No. 1 doubles' match. The duo topped Oliveira and Jose Cobo of Augusta 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles' match, while also taking down Greaves and Pierre-Oliver Bedard of North Greenville 8-7 in No. 2 doubles' action.
