SEASON PREVIEW: Track & Field

MONTEVALLO - The Montevallo track & field unit is set to return to action for the 2022 indoor track season.  This year the Falcons will take on four indoor events before the GSC Indoor Championship, followed by five outdoor events and a GSC Outdoor Championship, with hopes to compete for an NCAA Championship.

The kids have been working extremely hard all off season," remarked head coach Tommy Barksdale.  "We are excited to get this season going and are ready to compete."

The Falcons will rely on experienced leaders like TreMichael Jones, Caleb Kariuki, Irmon Kirt, Gaines Myrick, Esclavon Prewitt, and Kyle Tidwell, who have all put in some of Montevallo's top finishes in various events through the years on the men's side.

The women's team brings back a talented group of sophomore's such as Nyla Shipman and Kyah Cook who were some of UM's highest finishers in multiple events last season.

During the off season both units bolstered its talent with new additions to the team to help continue the success of the program.  The women's team added 11 new freshman to its unit and the men welcomed eight new members to the team.

The Montevallo track and field program is slated to kick off the 2022 season with an indoor meet, hosted by Emory University, on Sunday, January 16th at the Birmingham Crossplex.
