Men’s Basketball Celebration This Wednesday

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo will honor the 2011-12 men's basketball team this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. on Kermit A. Johnson Field prior to the UM baseball team’s battle with in-state rival University of North Alabama. The event will be free and open to the public.

Falcons Historic Season Comes to an End in the NCAA Championship Game

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The 22nd-ranked University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (29-8) fell just short of its first National Championship as the Falcons dropped a 72-65 decision to 12th-ranked Western Washington University (31-5) in the 2012 National Championship game. The men’s basketball team is the first University of Montevallo program to advance to the NCAA Championship game. The Falcons have now advanced to the NCAA Tournament seven of the last nine years and have advanced to the Elite Eight three of the last seven seasons under head coach Danny Young.

#22 Falcons Down #4 Bellarmine to Advance to the 2012 NCAA National Championship Game

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The 22nd-ranked University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (29-7) held fourth-ranked Bellarmine University (29-4) scoreless over a seven minute plus stretch in the second half to open up a double-digit lead and eventually win, 79-72. The win advances the Falcons to their first NCAA Division II National Championship game. The Falcons will face #12 Western Washington University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (EST). The game will be broadcast live on CBS.
