AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team had two athletes named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention. Senior Helene Nordgreen (Bergen, Norway/Bergen Handels Gymnasium) and sophomore Yulia Shvetsova (Huntsville, Ala./Bob Jones) were given Honorable Mentions. This is Nordgreen’s second Honorable Mention while Shvetsova received the honor for the first time.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team (6-17, 0-12 PBC) wrapped up its 2012 season with a pair of losses at home this weekend. The Falcons fell to Georgia Southwestern State University (8-12, 3-8 PBC) 8-1 and then dropped a match to #25 Flagler College (9-8, 8-4 PBC), 8-1. UM was led by its lone senior Helene Nordgreen (Bergen, Norway/Bergen Handels Gymnasium) who won both of her singles matches at number one.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team (6-15, 0-10 PBC) suffered its tenth Peach Belt Conference loss of the season to 40th-ranked Augusta State University (10-8, 4-4 PBC), 9-0. The Falcons were without three players for the match and had to forfeit both number three doubles and number five and six singles. Senior Helene Nordgreen (Bergen, Norway/Bergen Handels Gymnasium) and junior Amy McGucken (Selma, Ala./Morgan Academy) teamed up at number one doubles and won the most games of any Falcon today as they lost 8-5.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team (6-14, 0-9 PBC) continued its struggles in Peach Belt Conference play with a 9-0 loss at home against UNC Pembroke (9-12, 1-9 PBC). The Falcons came close to winning number two doubles as senior Helene Nordgreen (Bergen, Norway/Bergen Handels Gymnasium) and junior Lauren Blair (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Central Alabama C.C.) came up just short falling 9-7.
