MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's soccer team continued their winning ways on Saturday. The Falcons are now 2-0-0 on the season after easily defeating Eckerd College 6-0.

After a steady stream of shots to start the game, Montevallo was able to convert on an opportunity about halfway through the first half. At 21:31, Jeffery Hessenberger put Montevallo on the board for his first goal of the season.

Less than ten minutes later, Nick Saboe tacked another goal on to the Falcons total. Saboe got the rebound off of a Ricky Davey header and was able to easily put the ball in the back of the net.

Montevallo would get on the board one final time before the half. Davey again recorded the assist on this goal, as Steven Didik was able to come off the bench and add to the scoring barrage.

The first half numbers for the Falcons were quite impressive. They shot the ball 19 times, putting eight of those shots on goal, and of those eight, three were scores. On the other hand, Eckerd failed to attempt even one shot.

The rout continued in the second half. Bruno Mbamala was able to get his first two goals of the young season. He scored one at 64:29 and another at 71:03. The assists on those scores were credited to Ram Gilad and Hessenberger respectively.

Hessenberger would put his name in the box score one last time, as he recorded his second goal, and fifth point, of the game at 73:03. This made the score of the contest 6-0, and this would go on to be the final score of the contest.

In total, Montevallo recorded 31 shots to Eckerd's four.

The University of Montevallo men's soccer team will go for their third win in as many games on Tuesday, Sept. 10. This contest will again be a home match, as they will play West Alabama at 7:30 at Varsity Field.
