CLEVLAND, Miss. – It took double overtime for the Falcons to pull out the 2-1 victory over Delta State in the men's soccer season opener Thursday night.
The Statesman got on the board first with an unassisted goal from Luke Mason in the 13th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
The Falcons kept fighting and the equalizer came in the 85th minute when Josh Keller set up Kevin Francis to knot the game up at 1-1.
In the second overtime period Sebastian Kraus hit the go ahead goal in the 109th minute to give the Falcons the victory.
On the night the Falcons had 16 shot attempts with eight of those on goal
The Falcon defense held the Statesmen to three shots on goal and
Yannic Horn was credited with two saves.
This Sunday the Falcons will host Lincoln Memorial in their home opener. That game is scheduled to start at 3:30pm.
