MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo Falcons men's soccer team lost their home opener to the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters 2-1 on Sunday, Sept. 6.

How It Happened
The Falcons gave up a first period goal in the 39th minute to head into halftime trailing the Railsplitters 1-0.
The Railsplitters increased their lead with another goal, this one coming in the 72nd minute, to go ahead 2-0.
The Falcons did not go away quietly and fought back into the game with a goal of their own. In the 76th minute Srdjan Dujkovic crossed a ball into the box and a header from Sergio Gonzalez found the back of the net to make the score 2-1.
In the games final minutes the Falcons were unable to capitalize on potential scoring opportunities to push extra time.
Stat of the Match
Montevallo goalkeeper Yannic Horn had seven saves on the night for the Falcons.
Beyond the Numbers
The Falcons are now 1-0-1 for the season after today's match.
Montevallo struggled offensively only getting off five shots, 3 of which were on goal.
