Falcons Win Overtime Thriller Against UNC Pembroke

HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Falcons and the Braves went scoreless in the first half as each team was unable to capitalize in the opening period.

-The deadlock was broken in the 73rd minute when the Braves placed a shot into the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.

-The Falcons responded with a goal of their own when Liam Moore's shot in the 82nd minute from 18 yards out deflected off a defender and into the goal.  The Falcon's equalizer goal late in the second period was enough to force overtime.

-It didn't take long for the Falcons to score the game winner in overtime.  In the 91st minute, Sergio Gonzalez scored the golden goal off a rebound in front of the goal and was assisted by Patrick Morton.

STAT OF THE GAME

The Falcons were awarded 12 corner kicks in today's match while only allowing two for the Braves.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

Today's matchup with the Braves marks the fifth time this season that the Falcons have played in extra minutes. Montevallo remains undefeated in overtime matches this season with today's victory.

Montevallo is also 3-0 this season in neutral site games.

UP NEXT

The Falcons will make a short trip down Interstate 65 for an instate matchup with Auburn-Montgomery on Wednesday, October 19th.  That match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00pm.
