Montevallo Cruises to 4-0 Victory over Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The University of Montevallo men's soccer team ran away with a 4-0 victory over the Delta State Statesmen on Sunday afternoon.

The Falcons wasted little time in attack and got on the board first in the 2' of the game.  Lukas Hauer scored his sixth goal of the season to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.

Montevallo scored the rest of their goals in the second half.  In the 62' Liam Moore scored his first of two games on the day.  Moore scored on a cross into the box from Josh Keller.

Cesare Marconi made the match 3-0 in the 79' off a cross from Isaac Albaradei and then less than a minute later, Moore found goal for the second time as the Falcons took a 4-0 lead in the game.

Delta State was unable to muster much on offense and the Falcons cruised to a 4-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

2' | Lukas Hauer was assisted by Josh Keller for the game's opening goal.

62' | Liam Moore took a cross in the box from Josh Keller and scored to give Montevallo a commanding 2-0 lead.

79' | Cesare Marconi found goal to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead. Isaac Albaradei assisted on the Marconi goal.

79' | Liam Moore scored the final goal of the game to complete the brace and it was his fifth goal of the season.  Moore beat the goalkeeper in a 1-on-1 situation to give the Falcons a 4-0 lead.

GAME NOTES
  • Today's match was the seventh shutout of the season for the Falcons and goalkeeper Robert Kuta.  Kuta leads the conference with seven saves on the season and is also the leader in total saves and saves per game this season.
  • Josh Keller assisted on the first and second goal of the match for the Falcons.  Keller leads the team in assists this season with five assists. 
  • Cesare Marconi is the team leader in goals and holds the lead by a slim margin of one goal over Lukas Hauer.  Both Marconi (7) and Hauer(6) scored in today's match.
  • Liam Moore recorded his fourth and fifth goals of the season with a brace in today's match.  Moore is currently tied with Hauer for second on the team in points with 14 points.
