MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's soccer team defeated in-state rival Auburn-Montgomery 4-0 in a non-conference matchup.
Montevallo's
Lukas Hauer broke the scoreless deadlock in the 20
th minute on a penalty kick. The successful goal gave the Falcons an early 1-0 lead.
Later in the first half,
Cesare Marconi added to the Falcons' lead when he gathered in a deflected shot off the goalkeeper. Marconi found goal for the first time this season and gave Montevallo a 2-0 lead.
Liam Moore was credited with the assist.
Montevallo kept on the pressure in the second half.
Vladik Margolin scored his second goal of the week to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead in the 82
nd minute. Moore fed Margolin on a corner kick to earn his second assist of the night.
The final goal came in the 88
th minute when
Josh Keller was fed a ball from
Arad Lev Ari and streaked past the defense. Keller shot from 18 yards out and found the top right corner to seal the 4-0 victory for Montevallo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
20' | Hauer was awarded a penalty kick and put a sharply struck ball past the goalkeeper.
30' | The Falcons doubled their advantage before half after Marconi converted a tap-in off a rebound. Stephen Ingram parried a shot into the path of the onrushing Marconi.
82' | Margolin's header found goal off a corner from
Liam Moore.
89' | Keller struck from 18 yards out after slipping past the defense in transition.
GAME NOTES
- Robert Kuta has registered three shutouts in five games and has gone all 180 minutes at Varsity Field without conceding a goal.
- Josh Keller's goal was his first since 2015 and takes him to eight career goals in his time as a Falcon.
- The Falcons outshot the Warhawks 19 to 14 and put 12 shots on goal compared to the Warhawks' nine shots on goal.
- Cesare Marconi had a game-leading seven shots. His goal in the 30th minute of tonight's game was his first of the season. So far this season, Marconi leads the Falcons in points with five.
