MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Shorter University 16-4 in a Gulf South Conference contest March 30.
The Falcons improved to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in Gulf South Conference play with the victory, which came on Senior Day for the first ever senior class within the Montevallo women's lacrosse program.
Senior Jami Hudak and junior Sydny Dudley led the Falcons with four goals each in the win.
Juniors Janey Johnson and Meghan Shea, sophomore Arianna Endelmann and freshman Anja Kuys added two goals each. Johnson finished with a team-high five assists and compiled a team-best seven points.
Senior Georgi Griffin finished with three assists and controlled a team-high seven draws. Senior Nabyl Jimenez recorded one assist, along with Kuys, Hudak and Dudley.
Senior Tatiana Samuel finished with a team-high four ground balls. Senior Irfana Ahmed registered seven saves in the victory.

1st (27:20) | Alexis Mount scored an unassisted goal to help Shorter tie the game at 1-1.
1st (14:14) | Kuys scored a goal off an assist from junior Janey Johnson to give the Falcons a 2-1 advantage.
1st (11:03) | McKinley Puckett scored an unassisted goal to help the Hawks even the score at 2-2.
1st (10:37) | Freshman Sydny Dudley scored a goal off an assist from Johnson to start a 9-0 scoring run by the Falcons.
1st (2:38) | Junior Meghan Shea scored an unassisted goal to give the Falcons a 7-2 lead heading into the break at halftime.
2nd (24:24) | Senior Jami Hudak scored an unassisted goal to cap the 9-0 scoring run by the Falcons.
2nd (18:10) | Johnson scored an unassisted goal to give Montevallo its first double-digit lead at 13-3.
GAME NOTES
- Montevallo outshot the Hawks 31-15 in the contest, including a 24-11 edge in shots on goal.
- The Falcons controlled 15 draws compared to seven draws controlled by the Hawks.
- Shorter finished with 25 turnovers in the game, while the Falcons turned the ball over just 19 times.
- The Falcons celebrated their first senior class, a group of seven including Nabyl Jimenez, Georgi Griffin, Jami Hudak, Jo Northern, Jennifer Toney, Irfana Ahmed and Tatiana Samuel.
