Falcons drop road contest 3-1 to Saint Leo

Saint Leo, FL. – The Falcons dropped a heartbreaker to Saint Leo University on Wednesday afternoon.
 
After falling behind to the Lions 1-0 in the first half, Montevallo caught a break in the 71' minute when St. Leo was whistled for a hand ball in the penalty area. Senior Vladik Margolin took the PK for the Falcons and buried it in the back of the net, tying the game up 1-1.
 
St. Leo squashed the Falcons hopes in the 88' minute when Federico Toschi scored, giving the Lions a 2-1 lead.
 
The Lions sealed the game in the 90' minute when Dylan Moriera put St. Leo up 3-1, following a pair of saves from senior Robert Kuta in goal for the Falcons.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
36' | Elias Niesigk scored for St. Leo, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead.
71' | St. Leo was called for a hand ball in the penalty area. Vladik Margolin took the PK for the Falcons and scored, tying the game up 1-1.
88' | Federico Toschi scored for the Lions to give them a 2-1 lead over the Falcons late in the contest.
90' | St. Leo's Dylan Moriera added another goal to go up 3-1 over Montevallo.


GAME NOTES
  • Vladik Margolin scored the lone goal for the Falcons in the contest on a penalty kick.
  • Sophomore Ruben Carvalho led the Falcons in shots with four in the setback.
  • Carvalho and freshman Fausto Castillo each added two shots on goal for Montevallo.
  • The Patriots edged the Falcons 14-5 in total shots and 8-1 in shots on goal.
  • Montevallo edged Saint Leo 15-9 in total shots, while each side totaled seven shots on goal.
