HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The senior leadership of
Janey Johnson peaked on Sunday afternoon as the Rockledge, Fla., native scored a team-high three goals and dished out four assists in Montevallo's 13-12 win over Lewis.
"I am extremely proud of how selfless we played today," said Montevallo women's lacrosse head coach
Adrianna Piontek said. "We worked together as a team and took advantage of the opportunities we created off the ball."
Montevallo, which held a 7-6 advantage on the scoreboard after the first 30-minute half, saw 10 total players — including Johnson — score a goal with
Meghan Shea netting two, and
Sadie Bopst,
Jodi Morawiec ,
Brianna Shepler ,
Anja Kuys,
Hannah Fortin and
Hailey Wilcox all getting in on the action, too. For the game, Montevallo (1-2) finished with a 57 percent (13-23) on shots on goal during the game.
Meanwhile,
Rachel Rose , a freshman from Oswego, New York, earned her first win as goalkeeper as she was credited with seven saves throughout 60 minutes in net for the Falcons.
Piontek and the rest of the Falcons will return to the field on Saturday, Feb. 22 when Montevallo travels to Athens, Tenn., for a 12 p.m. CT start with Tennessee Wesleyan University.
