SAINT LEO, FLA - The Montevallo Cross Country teams took to the course on a soggy day in the Sunshine State on Saturday morning. The Falcons men's team crossed the line 8th out of the 18th teams in the competition, while the ladies came in 12th.
The top runner for the Falcons was junior
Joe Leventry who finished the 10K race 11th with a time of 32:27.01. Sophomore teammate
Joseph Pitard was the second fastest Falcon, finishing 47th with a time of 34:10.27. Sophomore
Chaney Holder was the next UM runner to cross the finish line. He checked in 55th (34:35.16), while freshman
Drew Roberts was 60th (34;43.69) and freshman
Owen Marquardt rounded out the scoring for UM at 65th (34:58.73).
The Gulf South Conference dominated the men's race winning the top three spots. Lee University outdistanced GSC champion Alabama-Huntsville 48 to 59 points. Meanwhile, Mississippi College was third with 97 points.
The story was the same for Lee in the women's race as the Flames made it a clean sweep dominating the field, winning by nearly 50 points. Other GSC teams in the top five included Mississippi College who finished third and and UAH whose team was fifth.
Freshman
Ana Watters was the top finisher for the Falcons. She crossed the finish line in 57th place with at time of 24:31.78 in the 6K. Not far behind was freshman
Amber Fisher and senior
Kiarra Walters who finished 63rd and 65th. Fisher finished with a time of 24:44.37, while Walters clocked a time of 24:48.69. Freshman
Caroline Hendon was the fourth Falcon finisher, coming in 78th (25:19.48) and sophomore
Courtney Keeler was hot on her heels in 79th (25:27.42). Â
