MONTEVALLO, Ala. – In the first round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament the Montevallo men's soccer team fell to AUM, 2-0.
On a rainy Sunday evening at Varsity Field, the No. 5 seeded Warhawks defeated No. 4 Montevallo for the second straight game to move to the GSC Tournament Semifinals.
In the first half the Falcons were unable to record any shots and fell behind 1-0 when AUM's Phillip Spickenbaum connected on a goal. The Warhawks registered nine shots in the first half - two on frame.
Edorta Cabieces fired the first shot for UM just three minutes into the second half but it was stopped by AUM's Alexander Kraus.
In the 51
st minute, AUM went up 2-0 after connecting on a corner kick.
Montevallo fired 10 shots in the second half, including five on frame, but were unable to convert.
The Falcons finish the season 8-5-3 overall and were 7-4 in conference play.
