MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer's season came to an end on Sunday afternoon after the Falcons fell to Delta State, 3-1, on Senior Day.
Delta State looked to take control early with its first shot on frame in the 10
th minute before senior
Michael Milliron took the Falcons' first shot on target just moments later.
The game evolved into a defensive battle until
Julio Rojo broke into the scoring column in the 31
st minute to give Montevallo a 1-0 advantage.
The Falcons nearly added a second goal in the closing stages with three Montevallo shots in the final three minutes of the half, leaving Montevallo with a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
Delta State switched gears in the second half, forcing two saves from
Tomas Valles Gilbert in the half's first 12 minutes. DSU would knot the game at 1-1 in the 62
nd minute.
The Statesmen kept the pressure on with another shot on frame in the 76
th minute before finding its second goal of the day in the 78
th minute.
DSU added its final goal in the 87
th minute, leaving Montevallo with a 3-1 loss in the final game of the season.
