MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo wrestling team will hold its inaugural home match on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m.
 
The special event will feature a local high school match beforehand with Thompson facing McAdory at 6 p.m. Following the high school bout, Montevallo will face off against Midway University in the first home match in program history.
 
Both matches will be held in Trustmark Arena and admission is free. Instead, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will collect donations for the Montevallo campus food bank.
 
The first 100 fans will receive a commemorative t-shirt and the first 200 fans will receive a commemorative cup. Additional t-shirts will be sold for $15, sizes small through XL, and $20 for XXL and up.
 
There will be three raffles throughout the match. The first 120 students will be entered in a raffle for a $50 Amazon gift card, the first 100 community members will be entered in a raffle for a $100 gas card and the first 50 Montevallo faculty or staff will be entered in a raffle for a $100 gas card.
 
In between the 157 and 165 matches, fans will be invited to compete in a paper airplane competition. Winners will receive Chick-fil-A gift cards.


Last Time Out
The Falcons are coming off a successful outing at the Georgia Open in Franklin Springs, Georgia, on Sunday. UM featured seven top-10 placers and one top-three finisher.

As week three of the inaugural season approaches, the Falcons are off to a successful start. UM earned its first dual win in program history over Allen last week, 32-15.
Entering the first home dual, Montevallo is 1-1 on the year and is led by Gabe Hixenbaugh who is an undefeated 6-0 on the year.
In addition, Derek Hussey leads UM in wins on the season with 10 and is 10-3 overall.
 

Scouting Midway
Midway will take part in its first dual of the year on Wednesday against the Falcons. The Eagles are coming off a successful showing at the Bob Del Rosa Ohio Open in which a pair of wrestlers placed.
 
Byron Pierce enters the dual ranked No. 15 at 285 in NAIA.
