Emory, Va. – The No. 22 Montevallo men's wrestling team picked up a pair of impressive dual wins on the road, Wednesday, in Emory, Virginia.
 
The night began with a 46-9 win over Bluefield State, marking the most dual points scored this season which established a new-school record for the program in its inaugural season.
 
Following the win over BSU, the Falcons continued to dominate with their fourth win of the year, 40-3, over hosts Emory & Henry. The Falcons held the Wasps to just three points which marks the lowest point total scored against UM in a dual this season.
 
Montevallo is now 4-2 overall on the year, 3-2 in Conference Carolinas action, and 2-0 in the West Division.
 
Seven of Montevallo's nine competing wrestlers on the day earned wins in each match.
 
Mark Pennison and Trent Gilham each totaled the most points between the two matches for UM with 12 apiece. Gilham, a freshman from Springville, Alabama, recorded fall wins in both of his 149-bouts, Wednesday, and improved to 10-11 overall while tallying his third and fourth fall wins this year. Gilham earned his fall win against Bluefield State in just 29 seconds, surpassing his previous fastest-fall time of two minutes.
 
Pennison opened the match with a fall win in just 18 seconds for his fastest fall this season and additionally, the fastest by a Falcon so far, against Bluefield State. The Covington, Louisiana native picked up six more points on the evening with a win by forfeit against Emory & Henry.
 
Colt Brown earned two wins on the night to move into a tie for the team lead in wins with 17, while also adding his team-leading 10^th tech fall victory.
 
Aside from Pennison, Brown and Gilham, four other Falcons earned wins in both matches. Alabaster, Alabama native Carson Freeman improved to 6-0 in dual matches with a forfeit win against Bluefield and a fall win against E&H.
 
Derek Hussey (14-5), Jeffery Tubbs (15-8) and Noah Todd (11-8) also joined the group of seven to record two wins, Wednesday.
 
Montevallo took a win in each of the opening matches in the duals. BSU jumped ahead of the Falcons briefly, 9-5, following the 133 and 141 weight classes, but Montevallo recorded four-straight six points wins to take an insurmountable lead, 29-9. A tech fall and three more six-point victory secured the first dual win of the evening, 46-9 for the Falcons.
 
In the final dual against Emory & Henry, Montevallo opened with five-straight wins and took a 24-0 lead. E&H picked up three points in the 174 match but Montevallo closed with two more tech falls and a forfeit win, winning 40-3.

Individual Highlights 
 

• Colt Brown earned his team-leading 10^th tech fall of the year and 16^th win overall, 20-4 over BSU's Luke Roberts in 3:56 in the 125 match.
• 149-pounder Trent Gilham defeated the Big Blue's Kaelob Pearce by fall in just 29 seconds for his fastest fall of the year and third overall.
• Aiden Knight added six points for UM in the 174 match with a pin victory over Sherman Franklin in 4:45 for his team-leading fifth of the season.
• Jeffery Tubbs recorded a tech fall at the 184 match, 19-4, over Landon Marquis in 2:43 for five additional points and his 14^th win of the year.
• Mark Pennison recorded UM's fasted fall of the year in just 18 seconds over Jordan Ruedi for his third pin victory this season.
• Carson Freeman, Derek Hussey and Noah Todd each picked up wins by forfeit in the 157 and 165, and 285 matches, respectively.

• Carson Freeman added five points and a tech fall win, 18-3 in 7:00 over Issac Harris in the 157 bout to improve to a perfect 6-0 in dual matches.
• Derek Hussey defeated Sebastian Gabarrete by major decision, 12-3 – his first of the year – in the 165 match.
• Jeffery Tubbs added five more points with his second tech fall of the day, 19-4 over Tristian Lorenz in the 184-weight class.
• Noah Todd picked up an 18-3 tech fall win over Hunter Brown in 5:08 for his 11^th win overall in the 285 weight-class.
