WALESKA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo wrestling team dropped a dual match on the road against Reinhardt, 30-12, Friday in Waleska, Georgia.
No. 22 Montevallo suffered its third dual loss of the year to No. 25 Reinhardt, snapping a two-match win streak.
The match began with a decision victory, 13-10, from freshman
Colt Brown (18-9) over Reinhardt's William Bishop for his team-leading 18
th of the year and his third consecutively.
In the 141-weight class, Wetumpka, Alabama native
Chad Strickland (11-11) defeated Tyler Barb by decision 10-5 for his 11
th win to tie the dual 6-6.
Reinhart earned wins in the following three weight classes to take a 21-6 lead.
Freshman
Brycen Turner ended Reinhardt's streak with a 9-2 decision win in the 174-weight class to make the score 21-9. Turner moved to 6-6 overall with his first dual win.
The Eagles tallied nine more points between the 184 and 197 weight classes to extend their lead 30-9.
To close the dual, freshman heavyweight
Noah Todd (12-8) recorded his third consecutive win, 6-3, over Gavin Harper to bring Montevallo's dual-point total to 12. The Lebanon, Tennessee native now has the third-most dual points of the year for Montevallo, with 21 following Friday's win.
