No. 22 Montevallo Splits Against Conference Carolina Foes

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The No. 22 Montevallo men's wrestling team split a pair of duals on the road on Friday, Jan. 26 in Bristol, Tenn.
 
In the first match, the Falcons came out on top over Lincoln Memorial with a 37-10 win. This is Montevallo's third highest point total of the season and is the Falcons third straight win in Conference Carolina play.
 
After the win against LMU, the Falcons would lose their first conference dual of the season against King University by a score of 37-8 which is the most points allowed by UM against an opponent this season.
 
Montevallo is now 5-4 in their inaugural season, 4-3 against Conference Carolina's schools and 3-1 in the West Division.
 
The Falcons totaled 10 wins on Friday while Noah Todd and Gabe Hixenbaugh won both of their bouts. In the 133, Hixenbaugh defeated Lincoln Memorial's Hernand Pinto with a fall in 2:35. Gabe would earn his second victory against King's Franky Medina with an 18-1 tech fall in 5:43. The Alabaster, Ala. native is now 19-0 this season.
 
Noah Todd was just as impressive as he defeated LMU's Gabriel Croom in a 6-3 decision. Todd would replicate his 285-bout by getting the victory over talented Jacob Telles in a 4-2 decision.
 
Against Lincoln Memorial, Montevallo would take the first two bouts before Lincoln Memorial won the next two to tie the dual at 10-10. The Falcons would win the last six bouts in dominating fashion to win the first dual of the night 37-10.
 
In the final dual of the night, the experience of King was overpowering for the Falcons. The Tornado's won with a fall in 5:35 to start the dual but the Falcons clawed back into the dual with a tech fall in the next bout. King would win the next seven bouts highlighted by two tech falls and three major decision. UM would scavenge the final 285-bout but the Tornado's took the dual 37-8.
