Falcons Wrap Up Season With a Big Win Over the Hawks

Montevallo, Ala. – Falcons wrap up season with a big win over the Hawks.
 
Ellery Shearer got the game started for the Falcons with a goal at the 10:23 mark. Aleena Edwards got into the action on an assist from Ally Rich just 14 seconds later. The Falcons got the ball back off the draw where Claire Withington fired one into the net at the 9:23 mark. Edwards picked up her second goal of the game shortly before Shorter's first goal at the 4:27 mark. Chloe Norman and Trinity Rose scored goals in the final three minutes of the period. The Falcons totaled six goals to the Hawks one in the first period.
 
Shorter took advantage of a man-up opportunity to start the second period, before Withington put up back-to-back goals at the 13:19 and 12:40 marks respectively. One more Hawk goal was scored before Withington and Rose got back into the action with a goal from Rose and assist from Withington with 10:50 to play in the period. Kiley Shea linked up with Withington for Withington's fourth goal of the game with 9:39 remaining. Edwards and Rich linked back up for a goal from Edwards just two minutes later. Shorter picked one more before Withington added another assist on a goal from Shearer in the final 10 seconds of the half.
 
Rose came out firing, scoring the first goal of the half at the 13:32 mark on another assist from Withington. Rich took one in all by herself, putting her third point in the stat sheet just 40 seconds later. The Hawks picked up their only goal of the period before Shearer and Rose grabbed another goal apiece. The Falcons led 16-5 going in the final period.
 
Shorter struck first on a man-up opportunity, but this would be the last goal for the Hawks. The Falcons rattled off five more goals before the final horn sounded. Four unassisted goals from Shearer (2), Shea, and Rose and one assisted from Edwards thanks to Lily Moats was how the game ended. The Falcons won their GSC match up against the Hawks 21-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
1st | The Falcons went up early scoring four goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. Shorter's lone goal was scored between these and the next two for UM.
2nd | Shorter picked up their first goal of the quarter during a man-up opportunity which was followed by back-to-back goals from Claire Withington. The Hawks scored one more before three goals from the Falcons. Shorter and UM both scored another goal before the end of the half.
3rd | The Falcon freshman started the third quarter with two goals. The next two for UM was split by a Hawk goal.
4th | Shorter was the first to strike in the fourth. Montevallo scored five unanswered goals to finish the game.
