BLUEFIELD, W.V – The University of Montevallo wrestling team extends their winning streak to four duals as they defeated Emory and Henry and Bluefield State on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
To start the night, Montevallo had their third consecutive dual where they scored 40 points or more as they downed the Wasps, 47-6. In the nightcap, the Falcons defeated the host school of the tri-dual, Bluefield State, where they won 28-19. With the victories, UM improves to 6-3 in the 2024-25 season, (5-3 against Conference Carolinas). With three duals remaining in the regular season, Montevallo has clinched their first .500 or better season in program history.
The Falcons imposed their will on Emory and Henry as they won nine out of 10 bouts. Montevallo forfeited the 125-weight class. The Wasps forfeited five bouts in the dual.
Kaden Brown was flawless as he took down Emory and Henry's Isaiah Dotson in a 17-1 tech fall which lasted five minutes.
Carson Freeman picked up a fall as he pinned Zane Perkins in 2:27.
Chad Strickland and
Aiden Knight came away with decision victories. Strickland won against Logan Arnold, 9-3, while Knight took down Sebastian Gabarrete, 10-8.
The second dual was significantly closer as Bluefield State was able to take four bouts from the Falcons. UM forfeited the 125-weight class to kick off the dual.
Daniel McEntyre won over Luke Roberts in the 133-weight class in a 4-0 decision.
Carson Freeman earned his second win of the night with a well-fought 9-7 decision. Freeman would pick up his 20
th win of the season.
Aiden Knight picked up his fourth major decision of the season as he won against Thomas Dolo, 10-0.

- Chad Strickland won by forfeit and now has 18 wins including five dual bout wins.
- Carson Freeman picked up his 20th win of the season and sixth decision win of the season. Freeman leads the team in wins and is tied for first with five pins.
- With a 10-0 major decision win, Aiden Knight has 11 wins on the year including a 4-1 record in major decisions.
- For the second dual in a row, Savian Graham and Jeffery Tubbs won by forfeit.
