Falcons Set For Conference Duals Against King and Lincoln Memorial

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo travels to Harrogate, Tennessee for their first duals of the 2025 year on Tuesday, Jan. 7 as they take on King at 4:00 p.m. CT and Lincoln Memorial at 6:00 p.m. CT. The duals will take place inside Mary Mars Gymnasium on the campus of Lincoln Memorial.
 
Last Time Out
To start 2025, the Falcons recorded three placers at the Hawk Classic Open on Jan. 4. Sam Euceda-Torres, Daniel McEntyre and Chad Strickland all placed in sixth for their respective weight classes. The trio combined for 11 wins, three falls, two tech falls, one major decision and five decisions. In their previous dual, UM was defeated by RV Belmont Abbey 18-24. In the dual, Colt Brown, Carson Freeman, Jake Chisolm and Aiden Knight picked up victories.

About Montevallo
The Falcons will now enter a stretch of their schedule where they will compete in eight consecutive duals including seven Conference Carolinas matches. Carson Freeman will look to carry his momentum from 2024 into 2025 as he leads the team with 16 bout victories. Freeman sports an impressive 3-1 record in duals, 2-0 record in major decisions and a 5-0 record in tech falls. He has four pins this season with his quickest coming in 1:26.
 
Nick Dempsey comes into the new year tied for second on the team with 15 wins. Dempsey has a 1-1 dual record while he has four wins in pins, three in decisions, three in major decisions and three in tech falls. The Falcons will seek a fast start in the 125 from Colt Brown, who is 4-0 in duals. Brown is 8-1 in decisions, 2-1 in tech falls and 2-0 in falls with his fastest coming in 2:26.
 
Last season, the Falcons defeated Lincoln Memorial in the two's first meeting in each program's history 37-10. King took the first match up against Montevallo by a score of 9-37.
 
Scouting King
The Tornado come in with a dual record of 4-2, 3-1 in Conference Carolinas clashes. King has defeated conference foes such as Limestone, Allen and Bluefield State. The Torando lone conference loss came in a close one against UNC Pembroke where UNCP won 21-19. In their previous dual, they downed Bluefield State 48-10 where they picked up eight victories.
 
In the 174-weight class, Clint Morrisette comes in ranked 13th by theopenmat.com. Morrisette is 20-4 on the 2024-25 season. Trent Mahoney comes into Tuesday's dual ranked 19th by theopenmat.com with a 19-5 record in the 165-weight class.
 
Scouting Lincoln Memorial
The Railsplitters come in with an 0-6 record coming against Conference Carolinas opponents in the 2024-25 season. Their previous dual came against Emmanuel on Saturday, Jan. 4 where Lincoln Memorial lost 3-50.
 
Last season, the Falcons made quick work of LMU as they won 37-10. In the dual, Montevallo won eight bouts including three falls.
