HARROGATE, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo wrestling team split their duals against King and Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The Falcons fell to the Tornado 9-35, but dominated the Railsplitters 49-6 in the nightcap.
In the first dual of 2025, Montevallo fell short against King, 9-35. King, who was picked to finish fourth in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll, won the final eight bouts of the dual. The Falcons gained the early lead as
Colt Brown picked up his 14
th win of the season and ninth via decision over Tyson Upchurch in the 125-weight class.
Daniel McEntyre followed in the 133 with a forfeit victory, his eighth of the 2024-25 season. From there on, the Tornado were relentless as they rattled off eight consecutive wins to close out UM. In the exhibition bout following,
Kaden Brown won in a sudden victory over Nico Crosnoe.
In the nightcap, the Falcons picked up their first west division win of the season where they put up a program record of 49 points against Lincoln Memorial.
Colt Brown improved to 2-0 on the day with a forfeit victory to kick off the dual. Brown is now 6-0 in dual bouts this season. The Falcons came away with eight straight wins to finish the dual including four forfeit wins, two tech falls, a pin and a decision.

- Colt Brown picked up his second win of the night and moved to 6-0 in dual bouts this season.
- Kaden Brown was victorious in the 141-weight class over Elijah Millsaps in a 5-1 decision. Brown has 16 wins on the year and earned his sixth decision win.
- Chad Strickland pinned Andrew Overbay in 2:51, Strickland's fastest of the season. The Wetumpka, Alabama native now has 15 wins and two via fall.
- Nick Dempsey earned his 16th victory of the season in a 17-2 tech fall over Julian Smith. Dempsey now has four tech fall wins in his freshman campaign.
- Carson Freeman picked up his team-leading 17th win of the season in a 19-4 tech fall. Freeman has four dual victories and is now 6-0 in tech falls.
- Aiden Knight, Baxter Hoffman, Jeffery Tubbs and Willie Cox won their bouts via forfeit.
