MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo wrestling team returns to the mat Thursday to open Conference Carolinas dual action against No. 25 Newberry and Allen. The Falcons will then wrap up the weekend Sunday at the King Open in Bristol, Tenn.

Thursday's dual against Newberry will be broadcast on FloWrestling as part of FloWrestling Night in America, with action beginning at 4:00 p.m. CT here. The Falcons will close the night against Allen at 5:30 p.m., also available via live stream here.

Montevallo enters the week following a strong showing at the Georgia Open. Cole Hunt captured his second 125-pound title of the season with five straight wins, including four falls. Savian Graham (184) and Willie Cox (285) each finished third in their respective brackets, while Kaden Brown (141) placed sixth with five victories on the day.

Newberry, ranked No. 25 in the NWCA poll, opened its season at the Georgia Open, where Ethan McCullough (133), Gage Summers (125), Hunter McCullough (125), Joshua Echeverria (174), and Kale Schrader (285) all placed. The Falcons and Wolves met once previously in dual action, with Montevallo falling 31-14 during the 2023-24 season.

Allen began its campaign with a 32-18 dual win over Greensboro before competing at the PJ Smith Pembroke Open. Jerrel Baskin (174), Zahmier Baldwin (165), Torrance Adkins (165), Quincy Gash (157), and Langston Blakley (184) each earned placements in the event. The Falcons took a 32-15 victory over the Yellow Jackets in the teams' lone meeting two seasons ago.

At last season's King Open, Montevallo recorded 21 total wins, highlighted by seven falls and five technical falls, with two individual placers.
