MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo wrestling team returns to the mat Tuesday night when the Falcons travel to Franklin Springs, Ga., for Conference Carolinas duals against Mount Olive and Ferrum. The Falcons take on the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. CT, with the dual against Ferrum to follow.
Montevallo opened the conference dual season last Tuesday with a split against No. 25 Newberry and Allen. The Falcons fell 30-21 to the Wolves before bouncing back with a 39-12 win over Allen. Over the weekend at the King Open, Montevallo placed eight wrestlers, highlighted by fourth-place finishes from Luke Berguson (165) and Colt Brown (141).
Mount Olive enters Tuesday 2-0 on the season, with Conference Carolinas wins over Lincoln Memorial (40-8) and No. 21 King (23-19). Christian Luker (125) recorded a 15-second pin over Andrae Aguilera (LMU) and a 15-0 tech fall in 1:43 over Phoenix Sandifer (King). Mount Olive also features nationally ranked wrestlers Tommy Nichols (No. 11, 157), Brent Nicolosi (No. 6, 165), and Calan Staub (No. 8, 184) by the NWCA.
Ferrum is 1-2 in duals this season, with a 51-6 win over Lincoln Memorial but losses to No. 21 King, 31-16, and Averett, 36-2. Panthers Riley Conway (125), Robert Owens Jr. (165), and Braeden Fluke (285) all carry two Conference Carolinas wins into Tuesday.
