MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Montevallo men's soccer team closed the 2025 season in the Gulf South Conference Quarterfinals on Sunday evening, as a late goal in overtime led third-seeded AUM over six-seeded Montevallo, 1-0.

The Falcons fired first, as Tomas Prieto recorded an early shot on goal seven minutes in. AUM quickly responded with a shot on goal of its own 30 seconds later, but Andre Etcheverry picked up his first save. Montevallo went back on the offensive, as Prieto and Dakota Hart fired shots in the next few minutes. Seth Acton followed that up with a shot that went high in the 19th minute. The Warhawks began to push firing three shots through the 27th and 28th minute, including a shot on goal which was saved by Etcheverry. The Warhawks added another shot on target in the 34th minute, but Etcheverry's third save kept the game scoreless. Hart recorded one more shot before the half, but the score remained knotted at zero at the break.

AUM came out of the break on the offensive, firing the first five shots of the second half, with a pair of those being on goal in the 48th and 52nd minute. Montevallo responded, recording the next six shots, which included a shot on goal by Seth Acton in the 66th minute. AUM went back on the offensive, firing a shot on target which was saved by Etcheverry in the 76th minute. The Warhawks continued to push, recording four shots through the next few minutes. Etcheverry remained stout in goal, recording a pair of saves in the 81st and 85th minute. At the end of regulation both teams remained scoreless, leading to overtime and the golden goal rule.

Montevallo looked to strike first in extra time, as Sebastian Flores and Oscar Vallejo fired shots on goal in the 96th minute, but the AUM keeper kept the Falcons off the board. The Warhawks responded with three shots, before recording a shot on goal in the 99th minute, which was saved by Etcheverry.
