MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo wrestling team hits the road Friday night for a Conference Carolinas dual matchup at Shorter. Action is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. CT in Rome, Ga.

The Falcons are coming off a dominant performance on Jan. 13, taking down a pair of league foes. Montevallo cruised past Bluefield State, 41-4, and Emory & Henry, 56-0. The win over the host Wasps marked the largest margin of victory in program history.

Cole Hunt leads the Falcons with a 24-2 record this season and was ranked No. 7 nationally by the National Wrestling Coaches Association on Thursday. The junior also leads UM with 12 pins this season.

Shorter enters Friday's matchup with a 1-4 dual record after falling to No. 19 King, 51-0, last Thursday. The Hawks have been led by Jonathan Fogus (157) with a 9-6 record, Riley Davis (184) at 7-3, and Braydon Gibson (141) with a 7-6 mark.

Montevallo dominated Shorter in last season's inaugural meeting, earning a 50-0 win inside Central State Bank Arena. Nick Dempsey and Carson Freeman each recorded tech falls, while Daniel McEntyre picked up a pin at 133 pounds.
