KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Montevallo men's and women's swimming teams opened the Conference Carolinas Championships with strong performances, highlighted by two program-record relay wins on the first day. After Day 1, the Falcon women sit in second place with 101 points, while the men are fourth with 81 points.
The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Petra Cajkas, Hanna Persson, Keara McGee, and Alexandria Morgan captured the conference title in a program-record 1:45.98, setting a new benchmark for the program.
On the men's side, the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Denis Popov, Alexander Kim, Jimmy Franck, and Edu Elizaran Galan also set a program record of 6:45.80 en route to a conference championship.
In individual events, Liz Davis earned a top-five finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, posting a time of 10:46.04 for the fourth-fastest mark in program history. Stella Newton placed sixth in the event with a time of 11:05.04. Ethan Brewer reached the podium in the men's 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing third at 9:51.02, while Ben Johnson placed fifth at 9:53.48.
The women's 800-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Morgan, Vanina Loriedo, Davis, and Cajkas, added another podium finish with a runner-up time of 7:46.53. It marked the third-fastest time in program history in the event.
