Falcons' Season Ends After Overtime Loss to Lee

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse closes the 2026 season with a 13-12 overtime loss against Lee on Saturday afternoon.
 
Lee struck first to take a 1-0 lead at the 11:49 mark of the first before adding a second goal just under two minutes later to take a 2-0 lead with 10:03 on the clock. After a pair of shots on goal from the Falcons and Ashlei Piazza's first save of the day, Lee added to its lead at the 2:45 mark to go up 3-0. Off the following draw, Chloe Norman found the back of the net for Montevallo's first goal of the day. The Falcons fired another pair of shots in final minute but trailed 3-1 heading into the second.
 
Early in the second, Ellery Shearer brought the Falcons back within one with her first of the game. Lee pushed its lead to 4-2 at the 10:27 mark before Claire Withington scored at the 8:39 mark. Shearer tallied her second of the day off an assist from Kennedy Goddard to knot the game at 4-4 with 6:30 left in the first half. After a pair of shots on goal from UM, Goddard gave Montevallo its first lead of the day with just 17 second left before half. Lee scored at the buzzer to send the game to the half in a 5-5 tie.
 
Withington opened the second-half score at the 12:12 mark to put the Falcons on top by one. Lee answered just a minute later before Asha Jamieson kept the Falcons in front with her first goal of the day with Mikaela Barbieri adding the assist. Just a few minutes later, Lee tied the game at 7-7 with 7:45 left before Mia Black's first goal of the day gave Montevallo an 8-7 lead with 6:30 left. Withington completed her hat trick at the 3:09 mark of the third to put the Falcons up by two. Piazza added a pair of saves in the final three minutes to send the game to the fourth with Montevallo leading 9-7.
 
Jamieson scored her second of the game at the 12:25 mark to give Montevallo a three-goal lead before Withington's fourth goal of the day answered a Lee goal to make the score 11-8 with 10:01 remaining. Shearer scored a man-up goal with 8:35 to give Montevallo its largest lead of the day at 12-8. Lee scored back-to-back unanswered goals to cut the lead to two with 7:47 left before pulling within one at the 5:50 mark. With just five seconds left, Lee tied the game at 12-12 to send the game to overtime.
 
After 1:29 seconds of overtime, Lee scored the game winner to take a 13-12 win over the Falcons.
