Mens' Soccer Draws With Trojans in Conference Opener

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer opened conference play with a 1-1 draw on Saturday's matchup with Trevecca Nazarene.
 
Ian Palma nearly gave Montevallo an early lead in the 2nd minute but a TNU save kept the score level. In the 22nd minute, Joaquin Wladdimiro scored on an unassisted effort to give Montevallo a 1-0 lead. Wladdimiro nearly found a second but was denied by the Trojan goalkeeper. In the final minute of the first half, Egecan Inceman fired a shot on goal but was turned aside to keep the score at 1-0 heading into the break.
 
Just eight minutes in the second half, Trevecca Nazarene knotted the score at 1-1 with the second shot of the half. The game goat physical over the next 15 minutes before Andre Etcheverry made a save in the 74th minute to keep the score level. Montevallo saw one final chance in the closing seconds but Viktor Willems' shot rolled wide as the clock hit zero to end the game in a 1-1 draw.

GAME NOTES
  • Montevallo held an 11-6 advantage in shots while adding five shots on goal to just three from TNU.
  •  The Falcons one eight corners on the night with the Trojans taking four while Montevallo was booked five times to just one yellow card from TNU.
  • Joaquin Wladdimiro led Montevallo's attack with the lone goal on three shots with a pair on goal.
  • Andre Etcheverry allowed just one goal in 90 minutes while posting a pair of saves on six shots faced.
