The University of Montevallo acrobatics and tumbling Head Coach Kati Horstmann has announced Liz Medved as the assistant coach for the Falcons.
"We are very excited to have Coach Medved on board," said Horstmann. "Her expertise and experience will be a huge asset to our program, and her enthusiasm for the sport is unmatched. She will be a phenomenal role model for our athletes with her servant-leadership and I know she will help establish a solid foundation for Montevallo Acrobatics & Tumbling. I am confident Coach Medved will create a positive student-athlete experience while competing at the highest level."
Medved moves into the assistant coach position after competing at Erskine College and King University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Biology. While at King, she excelled in the gym and in the classroom as she was apart of the King University Honors Program, was on the Conference Carolina's Presidential Honor Roll and the NCATA Academic Honor Roll from 2020 to 2023, the King University President's List in the fall of 2022 and on King University's Provost List in the fall of 2021. During her career at King, Medved helped the Tornadoes to five season-high heat scores and she competed in seven heats for the season in 2023. In 2022, she competed in seven heats, including five in every meet. During the 2022 season, Medved helped King to a season-high score of 8.400 in the tumbling trio pass.
"I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be a Falcon and a part of this inaugural Acrobatics & Tumbling team," said Medved. "I am excited to share my passion for the sport and help mentor this team of young, talented athletes through making history here at the University of Montevallo."
Prior to King, Medved competed at Erskine in their inaugural season. At Erskine, she was on the Erskine College's Dean's List from the fall of 2019 to the spring of 2021. Medved holds the Erskine school record for six-element tumbling pass and she was named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll and the NCATA Academic Honor Roll.
