Julia Marquardt begins her ninth season as Associate Head Coach of the University of Montevallo men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field programs in her ninth year at Montevallo.
Marquardt helped coach the Falcons to the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championship and the Peach Belt Conference Championship in three consecutive seasons from 2014-16.
The Falcons saw a women's cross country runner advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship during Marquardt's tenure for the seventh consecutive season in 2017.
Montevallo finished fifth in the Peach Belt Conference Championship and 8th in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championship in 2013, with three team members earning Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team honors. The team was also recognized for its academic performance by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the second year in a row.
Marquardt helped coached the NCAA Division II Southeast Region individual champion and the conference co-Runners of the Year during the 2012 season, including the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II Southeast Region Athlete of the Year. She also helped led the Falcons to a fourth-place finish in the Peach Belt Conference Championship in 2012.
Five members of the women’s cross country team were named to the conference’s All-Academic team under Marquardt’s guidance and the team was recognized for its academic performance by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Marquardt also helped coach the conference’s first ever Elite 15 academic selection in women’s cross country.
Marquardt helped lead the team to its first appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2011. The Falcons dominated the Peach Belt Conference Championship, winning by 30 points and had the individual champion who won the race by over 30 seconds. UM posted four of the top-10 all-time fastest 5k times in program history in 2011 and posted seven of the top-10 fastest 6k times in program history. The Falcons went on to finish second at the NCAA Southeast Region Championship which earned them a trip to the NCAA Championship.

Marquardt is a 2006 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College. Marquardt currently resides in Hoover with her husband Michael and their three children, Owen, Elise and Will.
