University of Montevallo Men's Soccer Head Coach
Bruce Dietterle has added Hector Rivera to his coaching staff.
"I'm really looking forward to the addition of Coach Rivera to the staff," said Dietterle. "He will bring a new vision and voice to our established program. He has a strong soccer intellect and understanding of the game, which he has cultivated all over the world."
Before joining the Montevallo staff, Rivera coached one year for the International Development Academy in Valencia, Spain. In this role, he aided international players from ages 14-24 in their development as professional soccer players.
Before his time in Spain, Rivera served as the varsity girl's head coach for Arizona College Preparatory from 2017 to 2023. Rivera's team won the region championship during the 2022-23 season, leading him to garner the 2022-23 Region Coach of the Year. He was also named CUSD Coach of the Year in 2020-21 after leading the team to the state semifinals.
While coaching at Arizona College Preparatory, he also worked in the MLS Real Salt Lake umbrella (2015-23) and for Gateway Community College (2015-19).
Rivera was a coach and age group director for the Real Salt Lake Arizona U6-U19 programs. He worked with players through the developmental process and led skill camps and clinics.
Rivera was an assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Gateway Community College, where he was in charge of player recruitment, player transportation, spring training program, and college ID camps.
Rivera graduated from California State University-Fullerton in May of 2015 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Business Management at California State University-Fullerton.
