2024-25 (SOPHOMORE)
Indoor: Competed in six meets during the indoor season. Opened the year at the Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker where he placed 16th in hte Shot Put with a distance of 13.35m and 19th in the Weight Throw with a distance of 14.10m. Placed seventh in the Weight Throw with a distance of 15.39m at the Samford Indoor Open. Closed the indoor season with a pair of top-six finishes at the GSC Championships, placing fifth in the Weight Throw with a personal record of 15.64m and placing sixth in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.42m.
Outdoor: Competed in six meets during the outdoor season. Opened the outdoor campaign with a pair of top-five finishes at the UWA Invitational, as he placed second in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 44.95m and fifth in the Discus Throw with a distance of 35.83m. Placed fourth in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 46.63m at the Falcon Classic & Multi. Earned three top-ten finishes at the Troy Doc Anderson Invitational & Multi, as he placed fifth in the Hammer Throw (44.21m), seventh in the Shot Put (13.58m), and tenth in the Discus Throw). Placed eighth in the Shot Put at the GSC Championships with a distance of 13.14m.

2023-24 (FRESHMAN)
Outdoor: Competed in five meets during the 2023-24 outdoor season. He set a personal best in the hammer throw with a distance of 42.68 meters at the Emory Thrills in the Hill. At the GSC Outdoor Championships, he set a PR in the discus with a throw of 37.89 meters. His top finish came in the shout put at the Emory Thrills in the Hills where he notched a third place distance of 13.20 meters in the shot put.
Indoor: Competed in seven meets during the 2023-24 indoor season. Newell's top finish came at the KMS Invitational where he set a PR of 14.23 meters in the shot put. He placed third in the shot put at the Emory Crossplex Showdown with a distance of 13.53 meters. At the GSC Championships, Newell would set a personal best in the weight throw with a distance of the 13.59 meters.
