Lori Riegler enters her second season as the head coach of the University of Montevallo men’s and women’s swimming programs in 2025-26 after becoming the second head coach in program history in August of 2024.
Riegler brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience to Montevallo, including time leading club programs across Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
She most recently served as the Head Coach of the Columbus Aquatic Club in Columbus, Georgia, where she directed team-hosted meets, implemented an athlete progression model, and was a member of the Georgia Swimming Technical Planning Committee and Southern Divisional Representative.
Prior to her time in Georgia, Riegler was the Head Coach of the Peoria Area Water Wizards in Illinois, overseeing more than 200 athletes, including Junior National Qualifiers and Scholastic All-Americans. Under her leadership, championship qualifiers increased from 38 to 50 athletes in one season.
From 2013-2020, Riegler served as the Director of Competitive Aquatics and Head Coach at Basking Ridge Country Club in New Jersey, where she guided multiple USA Swimming Scholastic All-Americans, Junior National and Olympic Trial qualifiers, and a USA Swimming National Junior Team member who won gold in the 400 freestyle relay at the 2020 Junior World Championships in Budapest.
Her coaching background also includes head coaching roles with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA in North Carolina and Princeton High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Riegler has coached numerous high-level athletes, including 2024 Olympic Gold Medalist Jack Alexy, who earned gold in the 4x100 freestyle relay and silver in the 4x100 medley relay at the Paris Olympics.
A native of Ohio, Riegler earned both her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Master of Science in Education from the University of Toledo.
