The University of Montevallo wrestling Head Coach Daniel Ownbey has named Michael Land as the first assistant coach in program history.
Land joined Montevallo after serving as a volunteer assistant for the program in 2022-23 and assisted Ownbey in recruiting the first class in program history.
Prior to Montevallo, Land was a member of the Reinhardt University wrestling team for two seasons where he was twice named an Appalachian Athletic Conference placer and NAIA National Qualifier.
Before transferring to Reinhardt, Land began his collegiate wrestling career at Newberry College where he was a member of the team for three seasons.
In high school, Land, a native of Moody, Alabama, was a two-time State Champion for Moody High School.
