Dr. Benton Tyler

Dr. Benton Tyler has served as the University of Montevallo’s Faculty Athletics Representative since January, 2014.

Dr. Tyler is a Professor of Mathematics and chair of the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (IAC). He received a B.S. in mathematics from Delta State University. He then received an M.S. and Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Mississippi before joining the University of Montevallo faculty in 2005.

Since coming to Montevallo Dr. Tyler has been involved with a number of initiatives on campus as well as serving on a variety of committees. 2006 Was his first year serving as a member of the IAC. In addition to being the faculty advisor for the Montevallo Organization of Gaming (MOG), a student group, he assisted in developing the Computer Science major and the Game Studies and Design (GSD) minor. He has also served as the Faculty Senate president in addition to winning the oar at the 12th annual Life Raft Debate.

He research interests include Combinatorics, Graph Theory, and Game Theory.
