Ed Langham is entering his 17th year with the University of Montevallo athletic department.
Langham's current role involves oversight of concessions and ticket operations for the department and building administrator for the Student Activity Center and all six athletic buildings. Sport oversight of the men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, in his role as an Associate Athletic Director. In his role Langham also oversees Montevallo's Esports program. His role also involves oversight of the University of Montevallo intramural sports programs, as well as the university lake kayak and canoe rentals and recereational programs and classes.
Langham oversees the Strength and Conditioning department. In conjunction with the Exercise and Nutrition Science Department, Langham oversees the "Swim to the Top" program. Langham also works with the Men's and women's swimming teams to oversee the "Learn to Swim" program.
Langham has 27 years of experience in teaching, coaching and athletic administration at the collegiate level. Langham currently works with more than 600 student-athletes across 23 sports at the University of Montevallo.
Langham is responsible for all scheduling of athletic practices, workouts and meetings, and also actively recruits corporate sponsorships for the department.
Langham joined the department as an assistant baseball coach in 2009 before being named as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Robert M. McChesney Student Activity Center Manager from 2010 until 2014. Langham spent the next five years as assistant athletic director for facilitities, recreational programs/head strength and conditioning coach.
Langham serves as the athletic department liaison for all Exercise and Nutrition Science undergraduate internships within the department. He is responsible for all Graduate Assistants within the Athletic Department as well.
Langham is an adjunct professor in the Excercise and Nutrition Science department, teaching classes on weight training, swimming, tennis, health and wellness, Sports/Fitness Management, Exercise and Wellness for Senior Adults, Survey of Exercise and Nutrition Science, and Advanced Performance Testing and Evaluation. As well as a UM 101 introduction class to the University of Montevallo.
Langham is the Deputy of the Threat Assessment Team and also serves as the primary contact for the Emergency Operations Plan for the athletic department. He assists in the administration of athletic home games and other University of Montevallo and community events held in the facility.
Langham previously served as the Head Baseball Coach/Director of Athletic Advising and Grounds at Bevill State Community College. Langham was the Athletic Academic Advisor at Bevill State for all athletes and was the director for all athletic fields at the school.
Langham spent 10 seasons as the head baseball coach at Bevill State, finishing his career with a school-record 298 victories. In 2001, Langham was named Alabama’s Junior and Community College All-Star head coach. Langham was honored by the Alabama Coaches Association for his 200th career win in 2006 and for 10 years of service in 2009.
Langham, who also taught electives all 10 years during his tenure at Bevill State, was in charge of all fundraising, fieldwork, budgeting and recruiting for the NJCAA Division I junior college baseball program.
Langham has also served as an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves. Langham played baseball collegiately at Bevill State Community College and was a member of the University of Alabama and UAB football programs.
Langham is an active member on the Higher Education Partnership Board of Directors.
Langham graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in education and human performance from the University of Alabama in 1999. He also owns a Master's of Arts in higher education from University of Arizona as well as a Master’s of Education in Administration and Supervision.
Langham is married to his wife, Dana, and resides in Helena, Ala. The couple has three children, triplets Tucker, Max and Madalyn.
