University of Montevallo's Head Track and Field Coach
Tommy Barksdale has added Garret Lynch to his staff as the jumps coach.
"We are excited to have Garret join our staff," said Barksdale. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the event areas through his prior experience as both an athlete and a coach. His enthusiasm will contribute greatly to the team atmosphere we try to cultivate in our program."
Lynch brings in solid experience, coaching 41 All-Conference honorees and 15 conference champions. His athletes have broken seven indoor conference records, three outdoor conference records, and ten school records.
Prior to joining the staff at Montevallo, Lynch spent one year at West Virginia Wesleyan College as an assistant coach for sprints, jumps, and multi-events.
Before his time at West Virginia Wesleyan, Lynch was a volunteer assistant coach for Berthoud High School, where he primarily worked with the jumpers.
Lynch attended Wichita State University from 2012-17, where he helped the Shockers track and field program capture four Missouri Valley Conference team championships. Lynch was a three-time All-MVC High Jumper and a four-time NCAA First-Round Qualifier. He served as the team captain from 2015-17.
While competing at Wichita State, Lynch also worked as a volunteer coach for the Shocker Track Club, teaching elementary to high school-aged athletes the fundamentals of track and field.
Lynch graduated from Wichita State in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
