Chandler Rose enters his 16th season as the head coach of the University of Montevallo baseball program.

Rose, who owns a 401-328 record at Montevallo, has led the Falcons to two NCAA Regionals (2018 and 2023). Additionally, Rose led Montevallo to a 10-5 win over Florida Southern on May 19, 2023, for the first regional win since 2007.  

Under Rose, Montevallo has totaled five 30-plus win seasons, including two consecutively in 2013 (34) and 2014 (31), and currently with 36 in 2022 and 39 in 2023. 

The Falcons earned its most wins in a single season since 2007 in 2023 with a 39-16 overall record. Throughout the year, Montevallo was ranked inside the Top-25 every week, as high as No.4 and finished at No. 20 in the final rankings. Additionally, the Falcons have been ranked in the Top-25 throughout five seasons under Rose. 

During his tenure, Rose has coached 31 All-Conference Players and seven All-Americans, including five All-GSC honorees and two All-Americans in 2023.. Sam Kuchinksi became the first player in program history to win back-to-back Gulf South Conference Player of the Year awards in 2023 and was also named NCBWA, ABCA/Rawlings, and D2CCA South Region Player of the Year.

The Falcons in 2025 would reach the ranking of 17th in Division II by the American Baseball Coaches Association after they started off the season hot with series wins over Embry-Riddle, West Florida and Mississippi College. During that stretch, the Falcons would knock off No. 1 Tampa for their highest ranked win in program history. The Falcons would see a quartet of players selected to the All-GSC Second-Team including Adiel Melendez, Connor Crowson, McGwire Turner and Evan Radford. The team finished 6th in program history with 73 home runs. The pitching staff would strikeout 404 batters which is the sixth time in Montevallo's Division II era where they have struck out 400 or more batters while tying a program record with 15 saves this season. Under Rose's coaching, the Falcons would win four games in the GSC Tournament which is the most wins UM has had in the tournament in program history. 

In 2024, Logan Samuels would be drafted at the 251st pick in the 8th round by the Atlanta Braves, making Samuels the highest draft pick in University of Montevallo history and the highest in Coach Rose's tenure. The Falcons would be recognized in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers national poll at No. 24. UM rattled off eight consecutive wins starting on Feb. 6 through Feb. 18. The 29 wins by the Falcons in 2024, would be the sixth most in a season since Rose arrived in Montevallo.

Success wasn't only on the field for the Falcons in 2023 as Rose saw five players named to the GSC All-Academic Team, 36 named to the GSC Honor Roll, five named CSC Academic All-District and two earn CSC Academic All-American. 

The seventh head coach in program history, Rose came to Montevallo after spending the previous four seasons as head assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the Air Force Academy. Prior to his time at the Air Force Academy, Rose spent one season as an assistant coach at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Rose has coached multiple players that have gone on to continue their playing careers.  Rose coached his first-ever selection in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft with Will Fulmer's selection by the New York Mets in the 22nd round of the draft in 2014. In 2016, Dane Hutcheon became the second player to get drafted under Rose, going in the 29th round to the Minnesota Twins. Tyler Krabbe was selected by the Houston Astros in the 19th round in 2019.

Rose has also coached Devon Davis and Aron McRee, both undrafted free agent signees by the Chicago White Sox, and Michael Shreves (Travers City Beach Bums), Austin Dubberly (River City Rascals), Jackson Slaid (River City Rascals), and Mathew Haskins (Santa Fe Fuego) who all signed contracts with teams in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

McRee was named first-team All-Conference and was named the Pioneer League Pitcher of the Year during his first season with the Great Falls Voyagers.

Throughout his career, Rose has coached six players who have gone on to play in Major League Baseball, including Casey Coleman of the Chicago Cubs, Danny Worth of the Detroit Tigers, Lucas Duda of the New York Mets, Jermaine Curtis of the St. Louis Cardinals, Richard Bleier of the New York Yankees, and Blake Smith of the Chicago White Sox.

Two players coached by Rose during his time at Air Force were drafted in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Garrett Custons was a 10th-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays, while Sean Carley was a 34th round selection of the San Diego Padres.

Rose is a 2004 graduate of the University of Central Florida, where he was a two-year letter winner. Rose was an All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection his junior year as a shortstop and helped lead Central Florida to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship and played in the championship game of the Tallahassee Regional.

Rose began his collegiate playing career at the University of New Orleans, playing for the Privateers as a freshman and sophomore before transferring to Central Florida.

The Fort Myers, Fla., native got his coaching start as an assistant for the Winter Park Diamond Dogs of the Florida Collegiate League in 2005. Rose has also worked at the University of Florida, Central Florida and Florida Gulf Coast summer baseball camps.

Rose also serves on the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association (ALABCA) Committee, which supports the mission of honoring, educating and promoting the state’s amateur baseball players and coaches.

Rose is married to his wife Sara and they have two sons, Levi and Dalton, and one daughter, Alayna.
