MONTEVALLO, Ala. – It's been a season of bad luck and hard fought losses for the Montevallo women's soccer team, but they were able to dominate Georgia Southwestern for their first win of the season on Wednesday. On Saturday, the Falcons continued to turn their good play into victories, as they defeated the USC Aiken Pacers 3-2 in overtime.

It did not start off well for Montevallo, as their early opportunities lead to no goals and USC Aiken's leading scorer, Megan Smits, was able to bury a goal at 35:29 to give USC Aiken a 1-0 lead that would last until halftime.

Christine Prince evened the match for the Falcons at 54:36. The senior scored her second goal of the season in her final match at Varsity Field. Another senior, Paige Scott, recorded the assist on the goal.

It may have been senior night, but junior Nicole Johnston came up big for Montevallo and scored the go-ahead goal at 68:57. She rocketed home a drive in the bottom left corner from the top of the box.

The Pacers would, however, have an answer. Heaven Tylee was able to head home a goal with less than five minutes remaining off a free kick by Hannah Allison. The game would remain tied and the two teams would head into overtime.

Overtime would not last long, as a storybook ending took place just 3:37 into the extra ten minute period. Scott, the Falcons' leading scorer and senior, was able to golden goal in her final home match for Montevallo. The goal came after a free kick from Emma Greenwood.

The Falcons will take a break conference play for the next match when the head to Valdosta, Ga. to take on the Blazers. The match will take place on Tuesday, October 22.
